This is real life

Last night we went to go see the Woodbury fireworks. Right before the fireworks began a guy came around selling 3-D glasses, telling everyone it's a lot better to experience the fireworks in 3-D.

A lot of people were actually buying them, and the guy seemed to be making a lot of money. Apparently the glasses really do work.
But then someone shouted, "It's real life. It's already in 3-D". And then I sat and thought about it. 3-D is popular because it makes you feel more like you're a part of the action. You want the images on the screen to jump out at you, so you can experience it like you're really there. Why do we need to enhance real life? Can you be anymore in the action?

Are we as a society so unhappy with our lives that we've gone beyond just being obsessed with reality shows, the internet, and entertainment, now we have to alter our perception of the world by using things like 3-D glasses to make things better?
