The power of family

I went to Bible study at church for the first time this morning. I walked in and only saw 2 people that I knew, everyone else looked familiar but I had never met them. And, apparently the people in the Bible study were all in a previous Bible study together, so I was a newbie. They all looked at me like, "Who's this strange woman?".... that is, until someone asked me my name. As soon as I said "Weber" I heard a big, "Oh".... and then it was like everyone knew who I was.
I got asked, "Which one did you marry, Ryan or Jonathan?". One woman asked, "Weber? As in Karen Weber?"
Someone told me she used to baby-sit Ryan. One woman said she went to school with Frankie and Steve. One woman was Jonathan's teacher. I instantly got accepted into the group just because of my family.
And all the other people knew me as Ryleigh's mom because Ryleigh is well known now because of the play. Haha.

self-soothing

Twice today Ryleigh has self-soothed! She got fussy, I put her in her crib, she fussed until she found her fist, and then she laid there sucking on it till she fell asleep! Yay!
At night time I usually feed her and cuddle with her until she falls asleep, and then I put her in her crib, so I really didn't think she'd put herself to sleep.
She's still a little cat-napper though. This morning she slept just long enough for me to take a shower. I'm guessing her current nap will last until I'm done checking my email.
At least she sleeps at night! :-)

My new hobby

So apparently Ryan's co-workers are very jealous of him. And why are they jealous of him? Because he has an awesome wife :-)

They're jealous of the good food Ryan brings to work, and the fact that sometimes I hand deliver it to him at work. (Of course they don't realize that on days that Ryan forgets his lunch I kind of have to bring him food cause of the whole diabetes thing).

Now that I have more free time I have been trying new recipes, and so far they've turned out pretty good. Ryan also said that I should bake every weekend. I have been baking cupcakes, and cake straight out of the boxes, but this weekend I am going to attempt to make a pie. I have never made pie crust before, but me and my new rolling pin are ready to give it a try. Chocolate chip pecan pie :-)

I think baking may become a hobby of mine.
And I am definitely more motivated because I like when Ryan's co-workers are jealous of him. It makes me feel good, and it makes him feel good, so we both win :-)

Goalie in Training

This is a pic of what Ryan and Ryleigh do while I'm working.

He says he's teaching her how to be a goalie. Apparently she does well blocking the ball while he rolls it down his legs towards her. Who says a two and a half month old can't play soccer?
