To those of you who buy me Christmas presents

Ryan and I re-organized our living room/dining room. We realized that we had no cohesive style going on. When we got married we kept all our respective decor items and just mashed them all together. And since Ryan and I have completely different tastes that just didn't work well.
We separated everything into categories, and then chose just one category that we liked. Sadly, my country stuff didn't make it. We decided on keeping a small purple vase, and a small glass vase that holds white and purple flowers. We also kept my Willow Tree figurines out because I refuse to put them away :-) Other than that we just stuck to picture frames. So, while I do appreciate a less cluttered room, I was sad to see a lot of things be put into the closet to be stored away until we get a house, where we'll hopefully have more room for them.
All that to say, I am thankful to the people who have been adding to my country collection little by little, but if you buy me anything like that this year for Christmas I will be forced to put it in the closet :-(

Doctors love Webers

I'm pretty sure we are single handedly paying the salary for the Advocare doctors this year. Ryleigh has had to go to the doctor 2x's more often than most babies. Ryan has at least 4 appointments this week to have a sebaceous cyst removed. I had an appointment today for a pinched nerve, and have to go for x-rays tomorrow, and then subsaquent follow up visits.

And as I am typing this I am watching House Hunters, one of my favorite shows. And I can't help but think, maybe if we didn't have to keep giving an arm and a leg to doctors and hospitals all the time we could be hunting for our own house...... I cannot wait for our 2 year lease to be up!

Battle wounds

These are Ryleigh's battle wounds from having to give 5 vials of blood today! They took some from her vein, and some from an incision they made in her poor little finger :-(

Finally caught on camera

Ryleigh learned how to wave on Monday, but I haven't had any luck getting it on tape, till now. What better way to spend another rainy morning than video taping a baby, right?

Weight check

Ryleigh went to the doctor's yet again today. Seriously, it's a little annoying to have to go to the doctors so often just to get her weighed. The results were not as good as I had hoped. She did gain 7 ounces since last Tuesday, but they looked at the growth chart today and realized she had still fallen further off the chart :-(

So, after getting grilled again about how much I feed her, and what I feed her the doctor said I should just give her 4 more ounces of milk a day. Which kinda bothers me because when the doctor asks how much she eats all I can give is averages. Yes, she usually eats a jar of food, but sometimes she'll only eat half, sometimes she eats a jar and a half. If she's hungry I feed her, if she's not hungry I'm not gonna shove it down her throat. It's just the way it is. So, maybe 4 ounces will help, but I kinda doubt it. Most likely she's just gonna be little like me and have to put up with people getting mad at her for it throughout her entire life.

But unfortunately she did not gain enough to avoid blood tests, which was my biggest fear because I hate needles and I hate seeing my baby in pain!! They'll test for hypothyroidism, and celiac disease (which will basically mean she'll have to stay away from gluten her whole life).

Just pray that she and I handle the needles okay, and that there's nothing wrong with her. I'd really appreciate it.

Back in the swing of things

So I haven't had any teaching hours since like May. The summer is obviously slow because no one in this economy wants to pay to have their kid tutored in the summer time. But, thankfully things are picking up now. We also just signed contracts with the Chicago and New Orleans school districts, so we have a ton of new students.

However, I can see that nothing has changed. I'm "tutoring" one kid who was there one minute, he was doing his work, got all the question correct, I could hear him just fine and then he was gone. He's still logged in, but totally unresponsive. Another one says she can hear me, but doesn't answer any questions unless I type them out on the screen..... hmmm... My third student had tech problems, the tech support people told him to turn his computer off then on again to help the problem. He logged off 15 minutes ago and I haven't heard from him since.

Oh the joys of trying to help students out online when technology stands in my way. At least with all these tech problems I have time to blog while getting paid :-)

Do I have two heads?

Ryleigh loves my keys. So, in an attempt to prevent the crying and fussing that always happens every time she wants to play with them, but I have to do something like unlock the door or start the car, I decided to get some for her. The fake, plastic ones just don't excite her.
So I went to Walmart and asked the guy for a couple of un-cut keys. He looked at me like I had 2 heads. I explained why I didn't need to have them cut, and he was still a little confused. But, thankfully he understood what I wanted and handed over a couple keys. From the look on his face I'm pretty sure he doesn't have kids, or else he would have understood why I was doing this. I also had to buy a cute key with Tinkerbell painted on it, and a couple of those tag things where you can write stuff on them to label your keys.
Happily, my idea worked. Ryleigh was content playing with her keys the whole car ride home. Yay!
